“Before the rain ends, we can hear a bird. Even under the heavy snow we see snowdrops and some new growth.”
-Shunryū Suzuki
I bring both professional training and lived experience into my work as a therapist. My approach is thoughtful, empathetic, and honest. I pay attention not only to what you say, but also to what you are feeling, sensing in your body, or struggling to put into words.
I offer relational psychoanalytic therapy with a grounding in attachment theory and interpersonal neuroscience. Together, we discover the deeper origins of your struggles and how early experiences still shape your life today. We will enter into your inner world and explore relationship patterns with curiosity and care. While talking together is central to the work, we will also slow down to notice your experiences in the moment, including feelings, bodily sensations, and images.
Psychoanalytic therapy can offer long-lasting, meaningful change by helping us understand the roots of your suffering, and shifting familiar patterns. While finding solutions to immediate symptoms can offer temporary relief, deeper change often unfolds over time. I meet with clients at least once a week, and sometimes up to three or four times a week.
I offer both safety and challenge within a holding space – I will share honest feedback about underlying issues related to your struggles. We will pay attention to what arises within our therapeutic relationship, as this can provide insight into how you experience connection, distance, and closeness with others.
Over time, you may feel more connected to yourself, and your relationships may improve. You may find yourself speaking more honestly and freely, understanding your emotions more clearly, and feeling more spontaneous, expressive, and alive.
